The Kebbi State Government says it will collaborate with private companies to develop the livestock industry to boost meat and dairy production in the state.
The State Governor, Atiku Bagudu stated this in Birnin Kebbi after receiving some top officials of agro-allied companies engaged in dairy production in the state.
Bagudu said his government would collaborate with the companies to modernize livestock breeding in the state with a view to raising the state’s revenue through the sector. He also assured the empowerment of livestock breeders in the state.
The representatives of the companies expressed their determination to support the state government’s livestock initiative, adding that breeders would be availed training in modern animal breeding techniques to boost their income and that of the state.
Meanwhile, the State chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Muhammad Dan-Ali has promised that members of the association would embrace the introduction of modern breeding techniques, while urging the state government to help sensitive them on the benefits.
