Free Farmer Conservation Event Happens Aug. 22 In St. Louis

The event celebrating sustainable agriculture practices and collaboration across the food supply chain is open to all farmers will be jointly hosted by the National Corn Growers Association and Environmental Defense Fund.    Throughout the U.S.A, farmers are working with food and agriculture companies, policymakers and other stakeholders more than ever before to collaborate on sustainable agriculture practices. A free event planned Aug. 22 at the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center’s AT&T Auditorium in St. Louis will celebrate those accomplishments and highlight ongoing conservation efforts.
The event runs from 4 to 6 p.m. and is jointly hosted by the National Corn Growers Association (NCGA) and Environmental Defense Fund (EDF). Producers should RSVP online to attend. 
Speakers and sessions at the event will include: Opening remarks from NCGA CEO:  Chris Novak Panel discussion hosted by EDF’s Suzy Friedman, senior director of sustainable agriculture, with Kraig Westerbeek, vice president of environment and support operations at Smithfield Foods; Tim Richter, farmer and partner at Saratoga Partnership; and Jason Jenkins, monarch and pollinator coordinator at Missourians for Monarchs.Condensed sneak preview of the Discovery Channel documentary “Rancher, Farmer, Fisherman.” The movie is based on the book by Miriam Horn, who produced the film and will be on-hand for a Questiona-and-Answers session.
