Farmers Take the Driver's Seat at AgTech Expo

The 20 interactive breakout sessions will explore such practical topics as evaluating ROI before jumping into precision ag, leveraging on-farm data profitably, and navigating data-compatibility issues in the field.

Registration is now open for the first Farm Journal AgTech Expo, designed by farmers for farmers who want to explore how to use today’s newest ag technologies on their operations.

“All the cutting-edge gadgets in the world won’t do any good unless farmers understand how they’re used, how they interact with other technologies, and why they may or may not be good for their operations,” said Susan Skiles Luke, Editorial Director, Farm Journal Media. “That’s why we asked farmers to tell us the kinds of things they want to learn most, and designed the Expo around those things.”

The 20 interactive breakout sessions will explore such practical topics as evaluating ROI before jumping into precision ag, leveraging on-farm data profitably, and navigating data-compatibility issues in the field. Farmers may also select breakouts on more advanced topics like ground-truthing complex yield maps and getting the most from variable-rate and multi-hybrid planting.  “And the best part is that farmers will explore these topics with some of the most seasoned and farmer-tested experts in the country today,” Luke said.

Although farmers will be in the driver’s seat, the businesses who serve them and the investors who work to bring new agtech to market are also welcome at AgTech Expo. “They can make themselves even smarter not only about agtech, but about how farmers are approaching it,” said Matt Morgan, VP, Digital and Retail, Farm Journal Media.

Attendees will also hear a keynote address by the geospatial technologist of Google, Ed Parsons, who will provide a view into the future of satellite technology.
